My friend recommended this spot and I come here solely for the katsu chicken! It's always perfectly crispy and the meat is never dry. The portions really big too so I usually just share with my partner. I haven't tried anything else on their menu yet, just because the katsu chicken just keeps luring me in :) We also ordered the party tray for a recent party and it was a hit!

Another great San Leandro find!! Quality/Quantity - Moku Chicken Combo - BBQ Chicken & Chicken Katsu. As with all the dishes, they were made fresh when you ordered, so please be patient. They also had generous quantities for all dishes. The BBQ chicken was tender and the katsu had a perfect crunchy fry. Not much veggies, a few broccoli and cabbage pieces. The cabbage was slightly undercooked. Hawaiian BBQ Chicken - See above. Again, a generous quantity. I preferred the teriyaki sauce over the katsu sauce. The katsu sauce was sweet. Rice Bowl - Teriyaki Salmon. My wife really liked it, but the proportions were off. There were like 4 scoops of rice for the little bit of salmon. But since both my daughter and I had so much chicken, we were more than happy to share. Mild flavors, lightly sauced. Simple menu done well! Atmosphere - Small local business. Indoor seating, but they started their closing and cleaning duties early. She was willing to take the chairs back down for us to dine in, but we decided to take it all back to the house to eat. We did not want to be the ones that made them get off work late. Small parking lot, but we got here so late I believe the other businesses were closed. Service - 5 stars. The cashier and her baby son (so cute) was so professional, welcoming, etc. She knew it was our first time here and was very welcoming. Price - $38 ish. My wife paid. Owner Comment - Congrats on your 2 years of success, and your newest location in Vallejo!

Having heard about this restaurant serving tasty Hawaiian food, I knew I had to give it a try. Located on a strip mall off E 14th, it has its own parking lot. I was here on recent Saturday around 6pm and placed an order to go. They had three tables for those that want to eat in. Though no customers were dining in, several customers came in to pick up orders. The menu had all the Hawaiian grindz and to get a good, I decided to get two combos to get a variety of items to try. After ordering, the food was ready in about ten minutes. Moku Chicken Combo - two large pieces of BBQ chicken and eight pieces of chicken katsu with two scoops of rice, scoop of macaroni salad and some steamed broccoli and cabbage. Aloha BBQ Combo - a large piece of BBQ chicken, some BBQ beef and a kalbi short rib with two scoops of rice, scoop of macaroni salad and some steamed broccoli and cabbage. First, the portions in both combos were huge. The bbq chicken, beef and kalbi short rib were marinated well and cooked perfectly and not dry. The panko breaded chicken katsu was fried crispy golden brown and the chicken was moist. They orders came with containers of dipping sauces, which I think were katsu and soy marinade. The vegetables were steamed without seasoning so I put some of the sauces on it. So we loved the food as it was delicious and for the amount of food you get at the prices, it was a great value and the clerk was friendly. There was enough left for another meal. We will be back when we have a craving for some ono Hawaiian grindz.

My wife is part Hawaiian and loves her ono grindz. Unfortuantely, many of chain Hawaiian restaurants kinda suck so we were happy to find Moana. It's a little but of a drive but worth it. In a strip mall with a parking lot out front. At Noon on a Weds nobody in here. But a few take-out and doordashes. We ordered the Kailua Porl, Moku Combo (Chicken Katsu and BBQ Chicken), loco moco and lumpia. Portions were huge and the taste was just like back in Hawaii. Chicken Katsu lightly breaded, loco moco cooked just right. Mac salad was great - no mayo overload. Prices were very reasonable, great food and nice service - we'll be back.

- Reasonably priced - Great customer service - Stellar portion sizes - Amazing menu I ordered their chicken katsu for lunch today and I'm not even joking you when I tell you that I have enough for lunch today, dinner tonight then lunch for tomorrow. I love it when I can maximize a meal. Everything was super flavorful. I'll definitely be back again soon and try something else on the menu :)

We got the family meal which was a pretty good deal for under $50. You get to choose three meats. I got the chicken katsu, which was flavorful and moist. I really liked the fish, which was well seasoned, but my husband thought the breading was too thick. The ribs were tender and less dry that at other restaurants and I enjoyed them. The macaroni salad, OTOH, was flavorless and the malasadas were too heavy for my taste. Longer review at https://www.marga.org/foodblog/2024/06/san-leandro-bites-moana-hawaiian-bbq/

I came here after walking lake Chabot with my husband on a Sunday afternoon after smelling all the wonderful bbqs at the park. Moana's did not disappoint. I got the moku chicken combo that includes the bbq chicken and katsu chicken while my husband got the Aloha bbq combo which includes the kalbi short rib and bbq chicken combo. The food came out so quickly and super full in the plate we received. The flavors were perfect and not too salty. The server also gave us lots of sauces without even asking. My favorite was the katsu chicken. It was so crispy. The ambiance was clean and bright. There is a parking lot to park as well.

Bang for your buck. The boxes were so heavy! 1. Aloha bbq combo: 2 skillet pan fried chicken filets, some bulgogi hiding, and three pieces marinated short ribs. Ribs were quite thin but at this price I can understand. 2. Loco moco: for us the heavy gravy was a bit unappealing and that's where I take off a star. Both orders come with two bowls/scoops of white rice, macaroni, and some vegetables. The vegetables were a good portion, not just two or three pieces of steamed broccoli. Both are definitely construction worker's size portion. Had a lot of carbs left over but definitely finished all the protein! Very small parking lot and not a lot of seating inside so more of a takeout place. Friendly service and quick, probably less than ten minute wait.
